Turmeric >> known for it’s natural healing and anti-innflamatory properties contains curcumin <<responsible for it’s medicinal props- so it’s kind of a big deal> Helps make the skin healthier, while adding more of a natural supple, glow to your skin by aiding in better blood flow via increased circulation. Turmeric cleanses the blood, keeps our red blood cells from clumping, and aids in tissue healing. AND stains everything yellow- but so worth it!

It’s not just turmeric that’s awesome, it’s the curcumin found within. A host of studies have been used with both turmeric and curcumin, that have resulted in improving conditions of those with certain conditions and diseases from Alziemer’s to Crohn’s disease, even diabetes.

Lately, Turmeric has become a popular ingredient in cosmetic products for its benefits in slowing the signs of aging and wrinkle formation. Because of the benefit in cleansing the blood, Turmeric is an appealing aspect to the beauty industry by showing the ability to prevent dry skin, treat eczema, and acne. Adding Turmeric to bathwater is believed to slow the growth of body hair, add a glow to the skin, and reduce pigmentation or blotches. It’s believed to supply these same benefits, when added to lotions, make-up, and other beauty items to even out skin tone. Careful before buying everything with “Turmeric” on the label. The product may include the beneficial Turmeric, but the additional ingredients may be countering your efforts in choosing a nutritious and effective skincare product. Make sure you look at the ingredients list and filter through the unfamiliar ingredients used in the manufacturing process that you’d rather not put on your skin. that you.

Chia Seeds and Beauty Health

Say hello to the glow!

Someone, somewhere has probably blabbed about chia seeds to you by now. About how they’re great for weight loss and feeling full.. And maybe all you really heard during their rant was Cha-Cha-Cha-CHIAAAAA!!!! But cut it out already. Seriously. Pay attention. Chia seeds are pretty badass little POVs (Pieces of Vegetation). Not only can they do everything your friend promised for your waistline, they can also make you better looking! What?! Yes.

Think of these clean eats as little, tiny backpacks of wholesome nourishment: tasty vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, fiber, protein, ANDDDDD omega-3 fatty acids. Yum. Eating them is a big, giant, freakin’ DUHHH. Anyway, you’re probably thinking “ya, ya, ya, how are they gonna make me even prettier?!”

Well, it’s all in that delicious protein and those omega-3 fats! The protein content helps build your bone, muscle, and skin all while helping with the repair of damaged tissue. And all those sexy essential fatty acids? Those are gonna help keep your nails, hair, and skin looking supple and youthful. Quenching your hair follicles with omega-3s will keep those brittle ends and dry scalp at bay and leave you with stronger and shinier strands. You want more? All those beautiful fats will give your skin that beautiful, healthy glow. Almost like you rubbed goddess butter all over your body! Except not. Because that sounds gross. But it will be super hydrating. Promise.

So what are you supposed to do with them? Like, do you plant a FarmVille garden with them? Or put them in some sort of timecapsule?! Nooooooo. You put them in your mouth. These little fellas are gonna swell 10-15 times their original size in liquid! So use them to thicken up your smoothies or to add some texture to your staples. And if you still can’t get enough, check out some chia recipes to your heart’s content, or until your little heart explodes. Whatever.

The lowdown on chia seed nutrition? Adding just 1 ounce (or 2 tbsps) of chia seeds to your diet is going to give you more than 100% of your daily omega-3 needs,  almost ½ of your recommended fiber intake, and 4g of complete protein. What more could you ask for? Now go eat yourself pretty and say hello to the glow!
